One of the world's leading transformation companies — with the scale, ambition, and client base to prove it

The Client

Capgemini is a global leader in technology and business transformation — partnering with major organisations across cloud, data, AI, and digital engineering to modernise how they work and grow. With nearly 60 years of experience, they know how to navigate complex, large-scale change.

In the Netherlands, Capgemini serves a broad client base across the public and private sector from its Utrecht hub.

The Dutch legal team — 10 lawyers covering commercial, employment, privacy, and compliance — is at an inflection point. There is genuine ambition to invest in the team, raise the quality of the legal function, and build a department that is seen as a real partner across the business. To lead this journey Capegemini is looking for an experienced General Counsel Netherlands

A role for someone who wants to be genuinely useful — not just legally correct.

The position

A strategic seat. A real team. A broad mandate.

As General Counsel Netherlands, you partner directly with the CEO and senior leadership — bringing legal clarity to complex, commercial decisions. You’re the kind of lawyer who leans in, not one who hedges.

You lead a ten-person team in Utrecht, with a clear opportunity to build cohesion, invest in talent, and elevate the function. Alongside people leadership, you own the legal budget and external firm relationships.

Your work spans corporate transactions, governance, competition law, IT contracting, and public sector deals — with compliance and ethics sitting firmly in your remit. You stay ahead of the regulatory curve and lead litigation strategy when it matters.

You report to the General Counsel Northern Central Europe based in Frankfurt, with close ties to the wider Capgemini Group Legal organisation.

Pragmatic, direct, and unafraid to give the advice that's needed rather than just welcomed

The Profile

Technical expertise matters — but it’s not what sets the right candidate apart.

What Capgemini is looking for is a leader who builds trust instinctively: with their team, with the CEO, with senior management, and with peers across the Group. Someone who is pragmatic, direct, and unafraid to give advice that’s needed rather than just welcomed.

You’re a builder. You take pride in developing people, delegating effectively, and creating a team that performs without constant oversight — while staying closely involved where your experience makes the real difference.

Your background includes:

  • A master’s degree in Dutch law
  • Solid experience in commercial and corporate contracting
  • A track record in an international business environment; experience with public sector contracts is a strong advantage
  • Experience as General Counsel or in a comparable leadership role, preferably in IT, technology or digital
  • Strong people leadership skills, with a genuine commitment to mentoring and developing talent
  • An interest in legal operations and legal tech
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English, written and spoken
  • The integrity, professionalism, and political intelligence to operate effectively in a complex, matrixed organisation

Lead. Build. Impact. At one of the world's leading technology companies

The Offer

This is a genuine leadership opportunity — not a maintenance role.

You’ll have the chance to shape a legal team from a position of real influence, with direct access to the CEO and senior management of Capgemini NL and a visible seat at the table. Based in a well-located office in Utrecht, you’ll also be part of a strong Group Legal network that stretches across Europe.

The package includes a competitive salary and excellent benefits — in line with the seniority and scope of the role.
